First 48.

I have safely made it to the island and had an extremely successful 48 hours. I was surprised at the airport by an old high school friend. I got my lei (which I was sad when I thought of the possibility of not getting), a big aloha and instantly felt the love this island has to offer.

Ben and I then picked up my rental car and begin my whirlwind of a weekend. We began at his place so I could change out of the same clothes I had been wearing for 16+ hours. My breathe had already been taken away by the scenery but the highlight of the day was the firework show on the beach over the Pacific Ocean. I have been told this is something that happens every Friday, just a happy hawaiian evening. Our night continued cruising various bars and restaurants in Waikiki. We ventured into a local artist's gallery so Ben could contemplate a purchase. He is a fantastic photography and worth of a website glance.

I managed to stay awake through the entire evening even though I had been up for over 20 hours. The next day myself, ben and his roommate, Matt went to the Northshore for a day on the beach and a local concert.

The concert we were attending was the the Turtle Bay Resort. It was a beautiful Resort that I will never be able to afford to stay at. Instead we did the next best thing and hung by the pool while we waited for the doors of the show to open.

Side of the road chicken. I think this is going to be somewhere I frequent.

Saturday was another great day. I did crash halfway through the concert due to severe jet lag. I slept in the truck until the boys were ready to return to Waikiki.

Sunday was just as eventful as Friday and Saturday. We woke up and headed to the windward side of the island. I rose before the boys so I had time to look for places to live and even make contact with someone to view a potential home. After hiking to the top of pillbox and viewing the Twin Islands the boys and I parted ways so I could meet potential new roommates.

I was greeted at the house by a large bulldog named roach. Shortly after I met 2 of 3 of my new roommates. Next up I met taco, a pitbull rescue. After a short conversation with 2 of the roommates the third arrived and the interview began. We talked for an hour and I hoped these people (and dogs) would be part of my hawaii family.

I met another friend Noah at his place while I waited to hear back about the house. After meeting his roommates and hopefully making a few more connections on the island I get the 3 way phone call informing me that I would be the fourth in a house in Kailua!

Next up on my adventure is my first day of work and moving into my new place. Continue to follow as I share my adventures on the island and under the Pacific.
